Brain Drain

It appears that an enterprising state employee who worked in the Office of the Medical Examiner in Maine free lanced for a Maryland medical research lab by shipping as many as 100 brains from cadavers to the lab. The man, who was the state's funeral inspector and who answered after hour calls for the office earned $1,000 for each brain plus a bonus $1,000 for each brain of a diagnosed schizophrenic. The families earned nothing but received thank you letters from the research company. The letters were promptly turned over to investigators. http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2005/01/06/donations_of_brains_are_probed_in_maine/
